The
ADF Squash Association will decide its 2003 champions at RAAF
Base Williamtown from July 24-28.
The championships are open to players of all standards, with a
grading system ensuring everyone competes at the appropriate level.
A masters event is held for men over 35 and for women over 30
again, players of all levels can compete in these events.
A doubles event will also be held, subject to numbers.
This will be limited to players of a standard considered appropriate
by the organising committee. This is necessary due to the increased
risk of injury when four players are on the court.
Players have the added incentive of being selected to represent
at an interservice event to be conducted in teams and individual
formats.
An initial squad for a tour to New Zealand in 2004 will also be
selected following the event. Selections will be based on rankings
during the championship and availability for the tour.
Organisers of the ADF championships said players of all standard
were welcome to compete. Participants must be a member of ADF
Squash Association, which is a once-only fee of $10 that remains
for the duration of ADF service.
The tournament fee is $40 which includes an ADF squash shirt and
subsidised attendance at a social activity.
