ANYA marks, set, go

MANY airmen and airwomen will be aware that there are a number of musterings that are staffed by personnel from any mustering, commonly referred to as ANYA musterings.

A list of the available ANYA musterings, including details such as employment locations, ranks and training requirements, can be found on the DPA web site at http://intranet.defence.gov.au/Raaf Web/sites/DPAAF/.

Although employment in an ANYA mustering is open to any airman or airwoman, all positions are subject to varying selection criteria – from meeting the physical fitness requirements of the Federation Guard to tertiary studies in management studies as an MST consultant. Additionally, selection for many of the positions is competitive, sometimes involving a selection board process to identify the most appropriate candidates.

A posting to an ANYA position offers airmen and airwomen the opportunity to experience employment outside of their primary trade for a specified period of time.

Time spent in an ANYA position will not affect a member’s seniority in their parent trade. However, as selection for employment in an ANYA position is normally competitive, members considering applying should research and prepare to maximise their prospects for selection.

ANYA positions are usually advertised in May-June through calls for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from the field. These EOIs are posted on the DPA web site (under Latest Career Information) and also promulgated in local information circulars through unit orderly rooms. Further information is also available from ANYA Career Manager Flight Sergeant Katrina Tomlinson on (02) 6265 2288.

Leave records get high priority
THE introduction of PMKeyS has provided the Air Force with greater visibility of its personnel data asset.
One of the benefits is the ability to correct leave data inaccuracies that existed under the old system.

In response to the number of leave records found to be inaccurate, Air Force clerical staff have been attached into the RAAF PMKeyS Cell to assist with the data corrections.

To assist leave administration, the RAAF PMKeyS Cell has been busy working to introduce improved leave adjustment functionality in the PMKeyS system, which will ensure that all leave data corrections can be authorised, actioned and audited.

Leave issues currently being addressed include leave balance discrepancies at the end of training, end of Leave Year accruals, and incorrect leave data arising from the limitations of the interim Defweb Leave Database.

A number of other reasons have led to incorrect leave balances, all of which are being addressed.
The Directorate of Military Administration – Air Force is also progressing the introduction of web-based Bench Level Instructions, which will greatly assist administrative staff in their administration of leave.

Air Force personnel can be assured that, despite current difficulties with administering leave, Air Force Headquarters has placed the highest priority on the remediation of leave records and improving the underpinning processes.
Individual Readiness is a means to monitor the extent to which members meet at least a minimum standard for service in the ADF.

This requirement applies to all members of the ADF, and results are reported biannually to CDF.

The six components of Individual Readiness comprise medical, dental, weapon handling, physical fitness, availability and employment status.

Individual Readiness requirements are intended to remind members of their obligations as members of the military. Members who do not put sufficient effort into maintaining their Individual Readiness components may be identified for possible administrative action.

From July 28 an enhanced recording and reporting capability in PMKeyS will come on line. It will be a more user-friendly system that will provide an accurate summary of the true IR position of each unit.

In this new system, each of the Individual Readiness components will have its own panel. There will also be a summary panel which will detail a member’s overall readiness status.

Units will be required to fully utilise the new IR functionality in PMKeyS, and Air Force Headquarters and commanders will use the data contained within PMKeyS to report to CDF on the IR status of their members.

With this improved and more accurate system of reporting, it is imperative that individuals maintain their currency in all components of Individual Readiness.

If you are unsure of your IR status, ask your admin support area or unit training officer to provide you with an update.
