Air Command Band

July 25: The parade band will support a No. 77 Squadron parade at RAAF Base Williamtown to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of the Korean War. The clarinet quartet will later play for a dinner function.
July 29: The Air Command Big Band will perform for high school music students at the NSW Education Music Camp at Stanwell Tops at 6.30pm.
July 31: The Air Command Concert Band will continue its free Midday Music Series at St Andrew’s Cathedral. The band welcomes back conductor FLTLT John Buckley who has been attending the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles Conference in Sweden.
August 1: The big band will entertain guests at the Hartley Life Care Charity Ball in Canberra at 7pm. For tickets and information call (02) 6282 4411.

History conference

THE RAAF History Conference will be held in the National Convention Centre in Canberra on August 4-5. The theme is 100 Years of Aviation: The Australian Military Experience. The conference will be a mixture of presentations and workshops. Inquiries to (02) 6287 6641 or visit the web site www.raaf.gov.au/aerospace.

Bird watching

THE Royal Air Force Ornithological Society (RAFOS) plans to conduct an Adventurous Training/Ornithological Survey of the Birds Australia Newhaven Reserve, 300km northwest of Alice Springs, in September 2004. RAAF members who are interested in birding and would like to be a part of the expedition should contact SQNLDR Dick Yates at raf.icp@which.net for more information.

Free flights

THE RAAF Williamtown Flying Club will conduct Trial Instructional Flights on July 26-27 in which 20 lucky people will get their first experience of flight for free. Contacts and more information is available on the club’s DRN web site at http://intranet.defence.gov.au/raafweb/sites/rwfc/.

CFS reunion

CENTRAL Flying School (CFS) at RAAF Base East Sale will celebrate its 90th anniversary with a reunion dinner and associated activities, including with a barbecue and flying displays, on November 14.
