Test of sharing

Australia and the United States have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will lead to increased sharing of test and evaluation (T&E) facilities.

The MOU was recently signed at the Pentagon in Washington and witnessed by Chief Defence Scientist Dr Ian Chessell, representing the VCDF.

Dr Chessell said DSTO played a major role in negotiations that led to the agreement.

“It will mean greater access for the United States to ranges and facilities in Australia such as the Woomera Prohibited Area, while Australia will be able to access similar unique T&E sites in the US at significantly reduced costs. The MOU will also cover the sharing of test data, modelling and simulation tools,” Dr Chessell said.
