WHILE the weather proved ominous, even the winds and rain couldnt
dampen the sprits of No. 25 (City of Perth) Squadron personnel
as they welcomed the Governor of Western Australia, Lieutenant
General John Sanderson, and OC Reserve Wing Group Captain Monty
Smith.
Before the Governors arrival GPCAPT Smith conducted a review
parade then spent time with the personnel in their workplace during
the working weekend last month.
The Governor, who is also the squadrons Honorary Air Commodore,
spent the afternoon meeting 25SQN personnel, having a flight
in the No. 79 Squadron Hawk simulator and meeting with GPCAPT
Smith.
He later provided an interesting and insightful presentation as
the guest speaker at the squadrons annual mixed ranks training
dining-in night.
While the Governor had planned on taking a flight in a Hawk aircraft,
piloted by former 25SQN CO Wing Commander Graham Rowe and prepared
by 25SQN technicians, circumstances prevented the flight.
At the dinner the Governor was presented with the 25SQN patches
he would have worn on his flying suit in anticipation that he
will return to the squadron and have the flight next year.
CO 25SQN Squadron Leader Nick Bricknell also announced the successful
applicants for the Governors vacant aide-de-camp position.
They are Squadron Leader Haidon Rendell and Flight Lieutenant
Dave Mustard.
Its been one of the busiest working weekends we have
had in some time, SQNLDR Bricknell said.
He was looking forward to maintaining the strong link between
the squadron and the Governor.
