Temporary jackets approved

SUPPLIES of the tarmac jacket are critically low because of contractor quality control difficulties being experienced by Joint Materiel Agency (JMA).

Even if all problems are resolved in the near future, the earliest date by which normal supply will be resumed is late July.

Owing to this situation, Deputy Chief of Air Force Air Vice-Marshal Chris Spence has approved, as a temporary measure, the wearing of the Navy Stanley Jacket by Air Force personnel entitled to be issued with and exchange the Air Force jacket.

The Navy garment is similar in appearance and function to the tarmac jacket and has been approved by Directorate General Technical Airworthiness staff for use by flight line personnel.

Those embellishments approved for the tarmac jacket may also be worn on the Navy version. This is a temporary measure only and this approval will be withdrawn once JMA advise that stocks of the tarmac jacket are back to normal.

New stockings not yet in stock

A HOLE has been put in plans to introduce a new shade of pantihose. The new pantyhose (Koltex Nearly Black) will be worn with the Air Force blue uniform. Members had been advised that the currently approved grey shades were not to be worn with the new uniform after June 30. However, the Joint Materiel Agency has not yet finalised the introduction of the new pantyhose into clothing stores. Accordingly, female personnel can continue to wear the grey shades of pantihose with the new uniform until further notice.
