Boost for online learning program

ADF personnel will soon take advantage of the latest technology to gain greater access to training and education opportunities.

Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence Danna Vale said Defence had signed a contract with the Deloitte Consulting/ThinQ consortium to provide a Learning Management System and Learning Content Management System for Defence’s $3 million e-Learning Strategy.

“The e-Learning system will provide military and civilian staff, particularly those in regional and rural areas, with greater and more flexible access to training and development opportunities,” Mrs Vale said.

The strategy, to be implemented in phases over the next four years, will provide e-learning access to more than 91,000 users.

“Providing all Defence personnel with access to the latest technology and education opportunities directly contributes to Defence capability,” Mrs Vale said.

“At the same time, this access also impacts on an individual’s career development and quality of life, boosting retention.”
