Basketballers to celebrate 20 years

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Australian Defence Force Basketball Association (ADFBA) as an accredited sporting association.

To celebrate the milestone, ADFBA patron Rear Admiral Raydon Gates and president Colonel Tony Cotton extend an invitation to all former participants, competitors and officials to attend this year’s championship in Sydney from October 19-25, culminating in a gala ball reunion on October 25.

The ADFBA was formed in 1983 and has conducted championships for men and women ever since.

The championships are state-based with combined service teams from each state and territory (except Tasmania) competing. After each championship a men’s and women’s team is selected to represent the ADFBA on tour in regional areas of Australia, Arafura Games or internationally.

For detailed information and invitation details, contact the ADFBA secretary at mark.thomas2@defence.gov.au, (02) 6265 7707 (bh); or vice-president chris.siegmann@defence.gov.au, (02) 6266 7122 (bh).
