Pure water on tap

THE Air Force will have a part to play in transporting the supply of new water purification and desalination systems for the Australian Army.

The systems will be modular in design and deployable on trucks and trailers or in C-130 aircraft.

The need for such equipment was identified in the 2000 Defence White Paper and its benefits were clear when used in East Timor.

The contract with New South Wales-based Pall Corporation Australia will provide for spare parts, training and technical documentation. An initial production version will be trialed in May 2004 with the remainder to be delivered from late 2004.
