Flying
flag for Reserves
By
CPL Jonathan Garland
AN Air Force Reserve officer is adding valuable operational experience
to her resume with a deployment to East Timor.
Flight Lieutenant Louise Nelson, of No. 21 Squadron at Laverton,
is serving with the PKF as part of the Aeromedical Evacuation team
in Dili.
Our role is to provide medical evacuation support to UN members
anywhere in the country, be they civilian or military, she
said.
The work is good when you fly a mission you feel like
youre really achieving the job youre here to do.
FLTLT Nelson said the challenge of working in a multi-national environment
was another part of the job she relished.
In the region where Im living there are Thais, Singaporeans,
Japanese and Koreans, so its a great cultural exchange.
Its a great opportunity to be here, especially to fly
the flag as a Reservist and show that were a part of the ADF
and have skills that can be useful when employed effectively.
