Squadron Leader Tony Banner and RAAF Base Townsville personnel lead the main Anzac Day march in Cairns. As well as local area ceremonial and parade commitments in Townsville, Thuringowa and Magnetic Island on Anzac Day, RAAF Townsville members attended marches and services at 25 separate locations – including Longreach, Cairns, Charters Towers, Cooktown and Hamilton Island – to represent the Air Force on the important day.
   
Warrant Officer George Stirzaker (ret’d), in wheelchair, leads the ex-apprentice and Junior Equipment Assistant Trainees element of the Anzac Day parade at Wagga Wagga.  The Wombats, apprentices who attended the RAAF School of Technical Training during 1958-60, held a reunion in the NSW city from April 24-26. Ex-WOFF Stirzaker was their squadron commander in 1960. The No. 3 Combat Support Hospital contingent that has deployed from RAAF Base Richmond to East Timor in support of Operation Citadel. They arrived in Timor in early May for a six-month deployment.
