Safety award presented to 92 Wing

NO. 92 Wing at RAAF Base Edinburgh is a leader in aviation safety.

92WG has received the Award for Aviation Safety Excellence for 2002 from Aviation Safety Foundation Australia.

The award, in the ADF category, recognises 92WG’s efforts in flying 10,000 accident-free hours to meet all of its operational training and maintenance commitments.

These commitments included a high tempo of activities such as Operations Relex and Slipper to support government policy and respond to the changed international environment.

The citation noted that in the past 12 months 92WG underwent a substantial refurbishment of the weapons platforms of all its aircraft and retraining of its air and maintenance crews.

“No. 92 Wing’s ability to operate safely and professionally in these diverse, demanding environments while undergoing considerable change is testimony to their robust safety culture, proactive safety and risk management program and check and training systems,” the citation stated.
