3CSH deploys to East Timor

About 19 Air Force health personnel, consisting primarily of No. 3 Combat Support Hospital staff from RAAF Base Richmond, have been deployed to East Timor in support of Operation Citadel.

They will be in direct support of AUSBATT and will be stationed in Moleana on the border with West Timor. The team includes five Nursing Officers, four Medical Assistants, two Dental Officers, a Pharmacist, a Scientific Officer, a Physiotherapist as well as support staff.

Although primarily PAF, the Health Service Team has also been augmented by Specialist Reserve personnel. Capabilities of 3CSH include intensive care, operating theatre, evacuation, dental, pathology, physiotherapy and pharmacy.

In the lead up to the deployment 3CSH personnel prepared and refreshed their clinical skills through clinical placements in Nepean Hospital.

The staff left on May 3 and are due to return to Australia in November.
