Underpayment to be corrected

MORE than 940 ADF personnel who served in East Timor will each get $77.84 after a Directorate of Entitlements ruling on the interpretation and payment of Service Allowance (SA).

The underpayment came about because a number of members, after they undertook their Relief Out Of Country Leave (ROCL), were required to serve 14 days to re-qualify for the allowance, while for others their SA ceased only for the period of their ROCL and then resumed as soon as they returned to East Timor.

The anomaly and variation in the ADF Pay and Conditions Manual interpretation was referred to the Directorate of Entitlements and its ruling is that members do not have to re-qualify after ROCL.
