ADF Sports Billboard

Athletics
The ADF Running and Athletics Association will conduct the 2003 State Teams Half Marathon Championship in conjunction with the Canberra Half Marathon on Sunday, May 18. Entries for team selection close May 8 and can be forwarded to FSGT Warren Matulick at DPO-AF, R8-7-014, Dept. of Defence, Canberra ACT 2600, with contact details and entry fee. Australian football
The Combined Services Football Club plays in the Top End Australian Football Association (TEAFA) Wet Season competition in Darwin. Combined finished third in the competition last season and won the flag the season before. It is looking for players/coaches/trainers/runners and waterboys of all skill levels to start pre-season in June this year. Navy/Army/Air Force/civilians and families are welcome. Fishing
The annual ADF Inter-Service Fishing Championship will be held from October 17-19 out of Darwin. For details, visit the web site www.fishingnt.com or contact WO2 Michael Voss on (08) 8935 4116.

Golf
The Central Region Military Golf Championships will be conducted from July 13-15 at the Vines Golf Club, Reynella over 72 holes. Entry fee is $45 which includes all green fees and presentations. Entry form and details from SGT Ian McDonald on (08) 8305 7017, or e-mail ian.mcdonald@defence.gov.au.

Hockey
The 2003 ADF Hockey Championships will be conducted at the Pines Hockey Stadium, Adelaide from May 30-June 6. Inquiries to SGT Jack Kruljac on (02) 8831 2218 or e-mail jkruljac@dfr.com.au.

THE ADF Hockey Association will enter teams in the 9th Australian Masters Games in Canberra from October 31-November 9. The major requirement for entry is to be over 30 years of age at December 31, 2003. Last year three teams (two men’s and one women’s) competed in the World Masters Games in Melbourne, and it is hoped the same numbers can be achieved for the Australian Masters. Rugby Union
The Australian Services Rugby Union (ASRU) Electroboard-Polycom National Interservice carnival will be held from June 7-15. The competition is expected to be fiercely contested by Air Force, Navy and Army sides that will contest the WGCDR John Caldwell Shield. The women’s competition will be contested between Army and a combined Navy/Air Force side for the CDRE Mick Dunne Trophy. All games will be held in Sydney. Air Force will play Navy on June 8, at Woollahra Oval, and Army on June 11 at the same location. Both matches start at 3pm. Kick-off for the women’s game is expected to be around midday, with a fast-roping demonstration preceding the final men’s game.

Skiing
The RAAF Alpine Sports Association Championships for 2003 will be held at Mt Hotham from August 2-10, catering for all levels of downhill skiers and snowboarders. Soccer
The Australian Combined Services Soccer Association has selected its coaching/management staff for the men’s and women’s ADF teams. The successful candidates are: men’s coach - PO Peter Ritchie; men’s manager - CAPT Terry Bell; women’s coach - ASO3 Gerard Harkins; women’s manager - CPO Garry Lucas; women’s trainer - WO2 Andi Watts.

Tenpin Bowling
The Australian Defence Force Tenpin Bowling Association will conduct its annual Nationals Tournament from June 23-27. It is to be held in NSW this year. State representatives are requested to organise individual state’s Inter-Service competition.
