Hair
one minute, gone the next

THE hair razing exploits of Air Force personnel across
Australia and overseas have helped raise thousands of dollars
for the Leukaemia Foundation as part of the annual Shave for a
Cure.
The bald facts speak for themselves.
Staff at Combat Support Group Headquarters at RAAF Base Amberley
raised about $1400, personnel at RAAF Base Wagga raised more than
$2500 and members of the Aircraft Research and Development Unit
(ARDU) at RAAF Base Edinburgh generated more than $1800.
Meanwhile, half a world away, Air Force personnel deployed to
the Gulf on Op Falconer raised an astounding $11,000.
At HQCSG, Flight Lieutenant Marcelle Mitting, Squadron Leader
John Wainwright and Squadron Leader David Adler put their heads
on the chopping block, with $1200 of the $1400 raised contributed
by FLTLT Mitting.
The Australian Defence Credit Union, in conjunction with Frontline,
sponsored RAAF Waggas Shave for a Cure day, with a large
number of trainees and staff from units at the base enthusiastically
supporting the worthy cause by shaving or colouring their hair.
Further south at Edinburgh, six staff members participated, with
ARDU Commanding Officer Group Captain Stephen Fielder leading
the way.
But while agreeing to the hair cut, CPCAPT Fielder insisted his
moustache had to stay.
In the Middle East, coalition members watched in amazement as
several of the Australian contingent sacrificed their locks in
exchange for donations.
One member, Mindy, waved goodbye to her shoulder-length hair for
a cool $900. Among the Aussies, Flight Sergeant Stan deserves
special mention for not only losing his hair but his eyebrows
as well.
