Fundraiser for injured LAC

STAFF at RAAF Base Townsville have a tradition of helping their local community, but recently it was their turn to help one of their own.

Leading Aircraftman Shaun Gristwood was seriously injured in a recent accident and, with his family and partner by his side, has been receiving treatment in Princess Alexandra Hospital’s spinal unit.

LAC Gristwood’s mates at the base immediately set up a trust fund and organised a fundraiser at Townsville to raise money for him and his family.

Once again, Townsville staff showed what a supportive team they can be, and more than 150 people attended the fundraiser, which featured live bands, raffles and refreshment sales.

The night raised more than $3500, which went straight into the trust fund.

The organisers have thanked the sponsors and staff who donated their time, money and prizes to help LAC Gristwood on the road to recovery.
