Imagery
specialists sent to Gulf
SIX
Air Force imagery analysts have been sent to the Middle East to
help assess battle damage in Iraq.
Their deployment for up to three months follows a request from the
US Central Command, which highly values the specialist skills of
ADF imagery analysts.
The focus of the air campaign is to strike high-value Iraqi military
and leadership targets. Coalition air forces have gone to great
lengths to avoid civilian casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.
The analysts will examine imagery taken by aircraft following air
strikes on military targets in Iraq to determine the success of
their missions and inform future targeting decisions.
Imagery intelligence ensures the Coalition can maintain target accuracy,
avoid duplication of effort and reduce the risk to civilians.
