Promotion
prospects for Airmen Aircrew have taken a turn for the better with
the introduction of a new competency-based professional development
and promotion framework recently endorsed by CAF.
The framework will extend to all Airmen Aircrew (including crew
attendants), providing an enduring solution to career development.
This new model will balance merit-based promotional principles,
Occupational Specification competencies and PMET requirements.
This will allow Commanders Airlift Group and Maritime Patrol Group
to assess achievement within the aircrew categorisation system.
Airmen Aircrew will become eligible for promotion after achieving
professional competence in these areas and will no longer have to
wait for vacant positions at Warrant Officer establishment.
Although some details are still to be finalised, the new structure
is expected to be in place by end of 2003.
Full details of the Airmen Aircrew Review, and a copy of the paper
approved by CAF, have been published on the DPA web site.
Any further information can be obtained from the Airlift Group Airmen
Aircrew Manager on (02) 4587 2019.

Base workshops
Directorate of Military Administration Air Force (DMA-AF)
staff have completed a series of workshops at bases for administrative
and clerical personnel to validate personnel administration functions,
develop processes and refine the wartime roles of ADMINOs and CLKs.
The workshops will assist future administrative and clerical training,
and the defined processes will form the basis of Web-based, centrally
managed, bench level instructions (BLIs) to improve personnel administration
knowledge, processes and service delivery.
The BLIs will be released in several stages beginning with PMKeyS-related
BLIs at the end of April. ADMINOs will also have the chance to take
part in a Project Management Review at RAAF Base Williamtown on
August 6-7.
DM-AF staff appreciated the enthusiastic contribution of those personnel
who attended briefings and were involved in workshops.
Feedback to DMA-AF on any related matters can be forwarded to dma@defence.gov.au
or on any issues regarding the Bench Level Instructions to dmablis@defence.gov.au
