Unit celebrates 60th anniversary

NO. 114 Mobile Control and Reporting Unit will celebrate its 60th anniversary by hosting a Tarakan parade and ball at RAAF Base Darwin on Friday, May 23.

The parade recognises the contribution of 114MCRU during the Tarakan campaign of 1945. The unit has the distinction of being the only Air Force ground unit with battle honours.

The Unit Standard will be paraded.

114MCRU – which was formed on May 23, 1943 – will also host an open day, a barbecue lunch and the Tarakan Ball.

Tickets to the ball, which will feature entertainment from RAAF Air Command Band, will be $50. A commemorative port will also be available for purchase.

Interested people should contact Pilot Officer Amanda McCurran on (08) 8924 2005.
