BALLS were flying and frozen chickens were sliding everywhere as RAAF Base Tindal personnel enjoyed a recent base fun day.

With the majority of No. 75 Squadron deployed, the base was in need of an immediate morale boost – and what better way to do that than participate in some of the wackiest activities imaginable.

On a day when strange behaviour was the norm, the most bizarre challenge was the frozen chook bowl – a combination of ice curling and chicken farming.

The final event of the day, the iron person challenge, was just as zany.

Each participant was required to run a lap of the gym, complete two push-ups and return to the start line to consume a mystery item of food or drink.

Dry Weetbix, children’s rusks and Berocca were just some of the substances the iron men and women of Tindal had to swallow.

“At the end of the challenge there was food everywhere, drinks all over the participants’ clothes and people holding their stomachs – and these were just the spectators,” one of the organisers said. “We can’t honestly say who won this monstrosity but it was extremely entertaining to watch and was a great way to finish off a terrific event.”

The team Muckedupfunkeys emerged as the overall winners of the fun day activities.
