THE
heavens may have opened, but RAAF Base Amberley personnel refused
to let it rain on their parade.
Five
squadrons, each comprising 5-6 flights, along with about 30
senior officers, maintained a brave face amid wet conditions
to participate in Amberleys first all-base parade of
the year.
In
the wet days leading up to the scheduled parade, organisers,
including Commander of Combat Support Group Air Commodore
Stewart Cameron, consulted with the Bureau of Meteorology
at Amberley.
On
the eve of the parade, the bureau advised that there would
a two to three hour break in the downpour, so it was decided
to continue the next morning as planned.
Everything
went as the bureau had forecast up until the march-off.
In
front of Reviewing Officer AIRCDRE Cameron and Parade Commander
Wing Commander Scott Wardle, staff marched on undaunted, albeit
a little damp.
The
highlights of the parade were two ACAUST Commendations presented
to No. 38 Squadron members.
Flight
Sergeant Mark Royle received his for establishing the training
and development section at Amberley.
And
Flight Lieutenant Mark Connolly was commended for his work
in developing the 38SQN tactics cell.
