Budding skydivers urged to jump to it

THE Australian Defence Force Parachute Association (ADFPA) is looking for members of the Air Force who are interested in forming a single service team for this year’s national championships in Wagga in December.

Operational tempo in recent years has seen a marked decrease in Air Force competitors available for competition.

However, the recent establishment of an Air Force Sports Parachute Association should result in a stronger team being fielded at this year’s event.

Members are urged to register their team with the ADFPA as soon as possible. Jumpers not in a team can register with the ADFPA, who will put them in contact with other military members in their area.

Teams are required in four-way formation, swoop accuracy, classic accuracy and four-way canopy rotations.

The championships are open to all ADF members, including reservists, holding a current APF B licence.

The 2002 national championships, held in the skies over RAAF Base Wagga last November and December, were a huge success, attracting more than 130 competitors from Australia and abroad.

The 2003 championships, also being held at RAAF Base Wagga, will run from December 1-12 and is sure to attract similar numbers.

To register your interest in forming a team, or to have your name placed on the ADFPA e-mail list, contact association president Captain Neale McIver on (07) 3332 7742 or e-mail neale.mciver@defence.gov.au
