AS an international model and author, Tara Moss has experienced
many highs but nothing to compare with taking part in an
aerobatic demonstration with the Roulettes.
Before flying out from RAAF Base Richmond, Tara underwent a medical
check by Dr Jeff Stephenson, medical officer at No. 3 Hospital.
Given the all clear, she donned a flying suit and
was fitted for a G suit by Sergeant Wayne Robinson,
a member of the Roulettes groundcrew.
Strapped into the back seat of the PC9, piloted by Squadron Leader
Peter Robinson, she received the relevent safety instructions
and was soon ready to take off for the ride of her life.
In formation with two other Roulette aircraft flown by Flight
Lieutenant Paul Bryan and Flight Lieutenant Chris Tulk, Tara experienced
a flight of about 45 minutes over Sydney Harbour and Double Bay.
Barrel rolls, loops and dives featured as the three aircraft wheeled
gracefully over the expanse of Sydney Harbour.
The finale to the flight was a low-level pass along the strip
at RAAF Base Richmond.
Punching her arm into the air, a very excited and exhilarated
Tara alighted from the aircraft, expressing her delight.
It was the thrill of my life. The Roulettes do a great job
and I know they please thousands of people every year, she
said.
She will put her experiences to good use as she will be writing
an article about pilots in the military.
