Leading
Aircraftman Storm Richter assess fire risks at the fire
control tower at RAAF Base Amberley.
|
AS parts
of Australia lie charred and blackened in the wake of recent bushfires,
staff at RAAF Base Amberley have been urged to keep an eye out for
fire during one of the most dangerous seasons in years.
Reservist Leading Aircraftman Storm Richter, a member of Operational
Support within No. 23 Squadron, said increased vigilance
was essential during one of the driest summers in history.
RAAF Base Amberley has a well-established capacity to manage fires
associated with air incidents.
This season the base has already fought a brush fire that threatened
flying operations and expected it might be called on again during
the period up until March, depending on rainfall.
23SQNs Reserve personnel staff the fire facilities during
working weekends.
