Fighters
ready to confront threat
Twenty-two
years after it was bombed by the Japanese, Darwin was thought
to be under threat again - this time from the Indonesians - which
led to Operation Handover, a largely unknown footnote to the Indonesian
Confrontation between 1962-66, as David Wilson recounts.
This
bomber is a survivor
Just
over a year ago, the first of two Canberra Bombers that had been
languishing at the end of the runway at RAAF Base Amberley for
years was rescued by a restoration team.
Last
WWI fighter pilot dies
The
man believed to be the last fighter pilot from World War I has
died in Toronto, Canada, aged 106. As a 20-year-old bank clerk,
Henry Botterell joined the Royal Naval Air Service in 1916.
