A
REUNION to mark this years 50th anniversary of the end of
Korean War will be held in Brisbane on April 24-25.
Veterans from any of the 22 countries that were involved in the
conflict and who saw service in Korea between 1950 and 1956 are
invited to attend.
A reception will be held on April 24 and the Korean War veterans
will have a prominent place in the Order of March on Anzac Day.
An after-parade gathering will be held on the Brisbane River at
New Farm.
Other events are being organised by individual associations for
July 27, the date of the armistice that ended hostilities in 1953.
One of the organisers of the reunion said: No welcome home
parade was held for these veterans, many of whom just faded into
the community. This will be a chance to pay tribute.
Inquiries to the Returned Veterans of the Korean War Office at
the Queensland RSL headquarters on (07) 3221 0722 from Monday
to Friday, 10am-2pm.
