Air
Force assets on show at Avalon Airport
THE
Air Force Roulettes, a pair of F/A-18 Hornets and the latest model
Hercules are just some of the aircraft buzzing over Geelong at the
moment as part of the Australian International Airshow at Avalon
Airport in Victoria.
The airshow, which runs from February 11 to 16, has attracted a
wide variety of aircraft from Australia and abroad as part of the
events tribute to the Centenary of Flight.
In addition to the Hornets, Roulettes and C-130J Hercules, the Air
Force has also contributed two F-111s, four Hawk aircraft, a P-3C
Orion, Caribou, HS748 and four PC-9s.
They have been joined by replica and antique aircraft, including
Australias only flying Spitfire, a Queensland-based Grumman
TBM Avenger and an SE5a World War I-designed fighter aircraft.
At the other end of the scale, senior Boeing pilots are putting
a new F/A-18 E Super Hornet through its paces, and a trio of high
performance F-16 fighters are also swooping on the event.
