Combined
event to begin at Richmond
THE
Australian Services Triathlon Associations (ASTA) 2003 Combined
Sports Championships will kick-off with a cycling time trial at
RAAF Base Richmond on February 27.
The championships will continue over the next few days, with a 60km
road race and cycling criterium at Holsworthy Barracks on February
28, followed by an athletics 10km road race at Holsworthy March
1.
The Combined Sports Championships will conclude with the National
Triathlon Championships at Penrith Lakes on March 3.
The primary focus of the Combined Sports Championships is to foster
the growth in the sport of triathlon and encourage ADF swimmers,
cyclists and runners to participate as team members in the National
Triathlon Championships.
ASTA will also conduct the Endurance Championships, where individual
members are required to compete in an 800m swim, time trial, 60km
road race, criterium, 10km road race and Olympic distance triathlon.
This will determine which member of the ADF has the best endurance
and overall physical capabilities.
