Coalition discussions

Warrant Officer Dave Brewer meets USAF Chief Master Sergeant Gerald Murray.
THE Air Lift Group Warrant Officer Disciplinary has met with the Chief Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force to discuss the effective use of the squadron’s warrant officer on coalition operations.

The meeting between WOFF Dave Brewer and MSAF Gerald Murray at the Pentagon, Washington DC, follows recent experience in Kyrgyzstan that highlighted the need to formalise the role of a detachment squadron warrant officer when integrating Australian forces into a coalition main operating base.

WOFF Brewer is undertaking a study into the future deployment of warrant officers specifically for this role. The study will also look to formalise the role of squadron warrant officers in Air Lift Group units, and the training they should receive.

Discussions were also held regarding the roles of the first sergeant (squadron warrant officer equivalent) and command chief master sergeants (warrant officer employed at command, group or wing level) in the US Air Force, and commanders expectations of them.
