Protest
at base
TEN
anti-war protesters blocked military vehicles and handed out pamphlets
at the front gates to RAAF Base Amberley recently.
Air Force staff manning the gates believed the protest, which lasted
an hour, was genuine and reacted accordingly, but it was all part
of an Air Force training exercise aimed at testing Amberleys
security procedures.
Exercise Main Event allowed the bases senior staff to monitor
the manner in which gate staff and Air Force security police reacted
to a protest situation.
The protesters comprised Air Force Security Police,
who were on a training course.
