Noosa tests triathletes

THIRTY-four Australian Defence Force triathletes from across Australia last month competed in the Noosa Triathlon on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

The Noosa Triathlon, comprising a 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run, is the centerpiece of the Noosa Multi-Sports Festival and this year’s race attracted about 1800 competitors and more than 30,000 spectators.

ADF competitors fought gamely to record some excellent results, but Air Force participants failed to fill any of the top three placings.

The fastest ADF male competitor was Captain Stirling Keen in time of 2hrs 5mins 49secs. Second place went to Craftsman Ryan Mayne and third went to Major Jeff Rudd.

The fastest ADF female competitor was Warrant Officer 2 Shelley Foster in a time of 2hrs 22mins 19secs.

Signaler Esther Smith finished second and Corporal Adriana Krommenhoek finished third.
