Basics a matter of course

RESERVE personnel from No. 23 Squadron Operations Flight at RAAF Base Amberley joined Permanent Air Force personnel from RAAF Bases Richmond and Townsville taking part in a recent seven-day Basic Operations Officer Course.

The course, held at Amberley, aimed to provide PAF and Active Reserve operations officers with the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to complete Advanced Operations Officer Training and perform, under supervision, basic duties of an operations officer.

Course coordinator Flight Lieutenant Lynette Horne said the program represented an important component of an operations officer’s basic education.

“In essence, the course provides theoretical and practical instruction in aspects of air operations common to all operational roles,” FLTLT Horne said.

“Course participants have demonstrated focus and aptitude in their studies. Their new skills and knowledge will be put into practice in the near future assisting Air Force activities in a wide range of environments and conditions.”.
