Air
Force personnel who work extra and irregular hours can now apply
for variable working hours.
Under DI(G) Pers 49-2, ADF members can apply to vary their hours
where feasible. The new DI(G) allows applications to be assessed
on a case-by-case basis.
The aim is to provide the scope and flexibility for variable-working
practices for personnel to pursue areas such as education, further
training, career progression or other special circumstances
however, the units operational capability comes first.
Individuals might apply to vary their hours as a one-off case
or as an ongoing arrangement during a positing period.
Variable working hours should not result in long-term disparity
between the total working hours of a member with a normal working
routine and a member with a variable working arrangement.
