Upgrade
on target
The
Standard Defence Supply System Upgrade Project (SDSSUP) is on track
for progressive rollout to users in March-June 2003.
The project, which will implement a single supply chain across the
three services, uses an upgraded version of the core MIMS software.
An SDSSUP spokesman said the project would introduce a standard
financial management and performance measurement framework, improved
visibility of inventory and assets, improved data integrity and
an electronic procurement capability.
Inventory to be managed includes equipment spares, consumables,
rotables, specialist military equipment, medical and dental (excluding
pharmaceuticals), non-bulk fuel and ammunition at unit level.
The SDSSUP aims to deliver enhanced abilities in areas such as cataloguing,
inventory tracking and management, as well as shelf life and repairable
item management. The project will incorporate eProcurement capability,
a ROMAN interfacing financial management framework and MMM business
process re-engineering.
Site training would start in February at Joint Logistics Unit South
(JLU-S) and RAAF Base East Sale and wouldl roll out progressively
to all user sites over a four-month period, the spokesman said.
This will entail an overview seminar for users and customers and
classroom-based, instructor-led training.
The rollout team is testing the process at pilot sites and system
configuration and testing has started.
On completion of rollout, the project will hand over responsibility
to the Materiel Systems Branch within the Defence Materiel Organisation.
