Call to tackle Noosa triathlon

WANTED: Defence Force triathletes to compete in one of the world’s best sporting festivals, the Noosa Olympic Distance Triathlon.

On November 3 the Australian Services Triathlon Association (ASTA), with the help of sponsor ADI Limited, will provide race singlets valued at $45 free of charge to all members of the ADF competing in this race.

Up to 3500 triathletes will take part in the event as individuals or as team members for the 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run.

The field will consist of novice triathletes to the professionals, with the novices just happy to cross the finish line some three-and-a-half hours later, while the professionals will be looking towards the Olympic Games in 2004.

The Noosa Triathlon gives members of the Defence Force an opportunity to compete with the best; you can form a team with your friends or try the race as an individual.

Members who intend to enter should contact Warrant Officer 2 Greg Young on (02) 9600 4366 or e-mail greg.young2@ defence.gov.au to register.

The ADF team will assemble at 4pm on Saturday, November 2, in the registration area where team uniforms will be given out and all members will be required to be in the team photo.

Team manager is CAPT Peter Young who can be contacted on (07) 4691 7280.
