THE body of Squadron Leader Peter Syzpula, who perished in an avalanche in Nepal 16 months ago, has been found.

SQNLDR Syzpula, along with his partner, Flight Lieutenant Michelle Hackett, and her eight-year-old daughter Kathleen, were killed in an avalanche during preparations for an Everest expedition in March last year.

The bodies of FLTLT Hackett and Kathleen were found four days after the accident. SQNLDR Szypula's remains have recently been returned to Australia for burial.

A board of inquiry has not yet handed down a report into the deaths.
