THE next Warrant Officer of the Royal Australian Air Force has been announced.

Peter Hall, Aircraft Technician, currently filling the Warrant Officer Engineering position at No. 2 Operational Conversion Unit at RAAF Base Williamtown, has been selected as the new representative for airmen and airwomen.

WOFF Hall will officially begin duty in Canberra on August 5, replacing Warrant Officer John Boydell, who is moving to Melbourne and discharging after a distinguished career of 36 years.

WOFF Boydell, the Warrant Officer of the Air Force for the past three years, leaves behind an enviable record of achievements.

The incoming WOFFRAAF said he was looking forward to being the new advocate for airmen and airwomen and working closely with Chief of Air Force Air Marshal Angus Houston.

"I have probably only met the CAF on fewer than half a dozen occasions, however he has always impressed me as a very genuine man with integrity who really cares about people. And let's face it, it is the people who are the RAAF's greatest asset," WOFF Hall said.

WOFF Hall has previously served in Canberra at No. 5 Squadron from January 1985 until January 1990. He and his family will relocate to Canberra in late July for a two-week handover before he begins duty.

WOFF Hall's nomination for the position was supported by the Commanding Officer of 2OCU, Wing Commander Don Thornton, and the selection was made from a short list of six. Following the release of his posting message on May 15, WOFF Hall was presented on stage by AIRMSHL Houston as the new Warrant Officer of the RAAF at the recent Air Force Awards night in Canberra.
