Sergeant Sylvia Winterton was presented with her Defence Force Service Medal by Chief of the Defence Force, Admiral Chris Barrie, at Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea recently.

ADM Barrie, was passing through Port Moresby after visiting members of the Peace Monitoring Group in Bougainville, and he presented the medal to SGT Winterton in an impromptu ceremony on the tarmac at Jacksons Airport.

SGT Winterton is a member of RAAF Unit PNG where she provides operational support for ADF activities in the country.
