Cadets in training
July, 2001

| CCPL Belgardt, 13 FLT Elenora (Gold Coast) takes
aim with his F88 Steyr at the Amberley Purga Range under the watchful
eye of WGCDR Mike Sykes. |
Steyr training can be trying for any Defence personnel, but for cadets
from the Air Training Corps and Naval Reserve Cadets, it was especially
important.
They were attending one of the first Cadet Tri-Service Steyr Courses held
at RAAF Base Amberley in April this year. Cadets were subject to the same
lectures and training as members of the ADF, resulting in some high scoring
in the qualification shoot.
The blisters and sore hands were all forgotten at the presentation parade,
where cadets were presented with gold Steyr badges by Wing Commander Mike
Sykes, Regional Liasion Officer QAIRTC and Commander Peter Gould, Area Commander,
Naval Reserve Cadets in Queensland.
