The RAAF Officers' Training School (OTS), RAAF Point Cook, is responsible for providing training to newly appointed officers. One of the important aspects of Officer Training is the induction process to transition students from their previous roles - whether as civilians or with prior military service - to be professional Air Force officers.

For the 84 students undergoing the Junior Officer Initial Course (JOIC), an additional induction opportunity presented itself in the form of ANZAC Day. Twenty-eight OTS staff and 84 students attended a dawn service held at the RAAF Chapel, RAAF Point Cook, before participating in the Melbourne Shrine ANZAC Parade. The group then accepted an invitation to attend RSL Duckboard House, where they had the chance to socialise with returned veterans.

President of RSL Duckboard House, Warrant Officer Snow Coughlan, CGM (Ret'd), and the remaining RSL members made all OTS members most welcome. The wealth of knowledge and experience present within RSL Duckboard House provided an opportunity for the students to gain a greater appreciation of ADF history and traditions. For many students this was the first visit to an RSL club and it is hoped that the visit may be the impetus for greater involvement with the RSL and other military associations.
