LAC Mark Legutko, his Military Working Dog (MWD) Cedar and the 321CSS RAAF Darwin MWD section are top dogs for 2006.

LAC Legutko and Cedar won the Bill Perrett Trophy for most outstanding dog and handler team of the year, while 321CSS MWD Section won the Lady Hannah Trophy for best section.

The Lady Hannah Trophy recognises the high performance, operational deployability and overall readiness of the section.

An assessment team had toured the country to select the winners.

LAC Legutko and Cedar, a German Shepherd, have been together for more than four years.

“He is a very caring, friendly and loving loyal companion,” LAC Legutko said.

“It was an honour to win the award, it was something unexpected.

“I certainly didn’t set out to win it. My goal was to get the best out of Cedar and everything else that came with it is a bonus.

“I want to thank all those people who helped me and put in the hard work with him. I won’t mention names but they know who they are.”
