Maternity leave reforms

NEW mothers in the ADF will be able to spend more time caring for their young children.

The Government has announced that from February 1, women in the ADF will have access to an additional two weeks of paid maternity leave. This increases the entitlement from 12 to 14 weeks.

Enhanced maternity leave entitlements will also provide greater flexibility for new mothers.

New arrangements mean mothers will be able to either take the leave at full pay or else convert it to half pay and extend it to 28 weeks.

Other Defence initiatives for families include access to childcare, education support, spouse employment, reunion travel from remote localities and access to carers and compassionate leave.

See the February 23 edition of AIR FORCE News for more details on the amendments to maternity leave.
