the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, a Palestinian terrorist cell,
Black September, held 11 members of the Israeli Olympic team
hostage.
The team’s rescue was bungled and to close the circle,
Israel raised a hit team to slay the Palestinians involved.
Munich is chilling, beautifully made and brilliantly acted.
Typically, Director Steven Spielberg doesn’t fill in
all the blanks for you, so prior knowledge of the massacre
can be helpful. He also glazes over Germany’s lack of
skill in dealing with the crisis.
A good cinematic start to 2006.
