PREPARATIONS
have been underway for one of the biggest military musical performances
of the year.
The Edinburgh Military Tattoo “A Salute to Australia” has been
playing in Sydney, where ADF personnel have been called on for
both their melodic and building talents.
LAC Adam Bland, from No. 36 Squadron, was among those to help
waterproof the construction site Aussie Stadium – for the event.
The Air Force’s Air Command Band have been playing alongside 1200
musicians and performers from February 3-8.
The Tattoo has also involved the Australian Army Band Sydney,
the Royal Australian Navy Band, the Combined Pipes and Drums of
the Royal Australian Regiment and the Combined Pipes and Drums
of the Australian Army.
The tri-Service Federation Guard have provided guard for the closing
ceremony. Also practising before the event was the Ghurkha Pipes
and Drums Band of the 1st Batallion, the Royal Ghurkha Rifles.
The band played at the Prime Minister’s XI cricket match on January
25.
