Intranet proves instructive

BENCH Level Instructions (BLIs) for pay administration are now on the DMA-AF web site. This BLI is available for personnel dealing with pay. Most clerks and administration officers use the DMAAF web site to assist them with their work.

The site hosts many BLIs and thus provides a standard step-bystep process for handling almost all administration required. The remaining 20 per cent of BLIs to be completed are gradually being added to the site. BLIs are being widely used by more than just Air Force administrative staff.

For example, the training officer at HMAS Cerberus (a Naval officer) is using the BLIs to help him manage the Air Force personnel undergoing training courses at HMAS Cerberus.

Personnel may also find the BLIs useful in guiding them through the Redress of Grievance procedure or other administrative processes.

In today’s environment, where you are expected to do more of your own administration, clear instructions are available in the BLIs to step you through to a point where you can seek administrative assistance or even complete the issue yourself.

You can find the site at http://intranet.defence.gov.au/raafweb/Sites/DMA-AF/ or if you forget this, go to the Air Force intranet home page and click on the link.

Administrative advice

A REMINDER that Base Military Administrators (BMAs) are located at each RAAF Base. They are also at Glenbrook and Canberra, available in all locations to assist all officers and airmen with administrative matters.

Their role is to improve the delivery of administrative support through specialist advice to commanders and regular contact with administration and clerical staff.

A framework has been created to encourage networking, mentoring, and professional development aimed at increasing the level of personal administration knowledge, skills, and application amongst administration officers and clerks.

Any airman or airwoman considering applying for a commission may wish to get in touch with the local BMA for advice. The BMA is also assisted by a senior clerk Specialist Military Adviser (SMA) who is the prime point of contact on clerk issues at the same location.

Contact details for BMAs and SMAs can be found on the DMA-AF web site.
