THE
Torana TT36 concept car was hard to miss at the International
Motor Show in Sydney
not only because of its shocking pink colour, but for its
unique motoring power.
The specs really grabbed peoples attention an experimental
twin turbo 3.6-litre V6 pumping out 280kW of power.
And it could not help but impress with its Kelvinator
white interior.
It was a highlight for local manufacturers to unveil as it was
the first of recent Holden concepts that have not been based on
its popular Commodore design.
But unfortunately for Holden, the Torana concept is big news in
the US and diverted attention from the updated Monaro-based Pontiac
GTO.
Holden said it was testing the Torana, but, as yet, it had no
intention of building the car.
On to the outrageous. Rolls Royce (BMW) has built a massive barge
drop top that is supposed to give the impression of
a motor yacht at speed. One could not help but be
amazed by the Roller being powered by a 9-litre V16,
64-valve engine.
Speed freaks were also enamoured with the fastest road car at
the show. It was not a Ferrari or Maserati, but the Swedish Koenigsegg
CCR. A supercharged 4.7-litre V8 pushes the ultra-light car from
0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed just shy of 400km/h!
And for the first time at the show there was a concept car designed
by women for women. It was a Volvo code-named YCC.
