Point Cook book

A Point Cook RAAF Base Strategic Land Use Working Book will collate the ongoing work and discussions of three working groups and provide greater opportunity for community consultation.

Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Defence Fran Bailey said the working book would help to incorporate information from the many studies and assessments that have been conducted on the Point Cook site.

“The Working Book will help to build on the hard work already undertaken by three working groups and present information for the general public in a user friendly manner,” she said.

“The working book provides extensive background information about Point Cook and includes information on the planning and consultation processes that will help the community in the next stage of the consultation process.”

Key issues of concern that will be addressed include:

  • The position of the State Government, the Wyndham City Council and Hobsons Bay Council.
  • Future Airfield Usage – the type and the amount of future usage of the airfield and issues of ongoing management, including noise and safety impacts on surrounding residential areas.
  • Heritage – the importance of heritage sites and the ongoing operation of the RAAF Museum at Point Cook.
  • Social – concerns for the future of community facilities on site.
  • Environment – including public access to the foreshore, protection of flora and fauna and methods of dealing with on site contamination.
  • Traffic – additional traffic on Point Cook Road

Copies of the Working Book are available by contacting 1800 009 060 or e-mailing pointcook@skm.com.au.
