For the first time since its inception in January, Air Combat Group has combined the capability of F/A-18 Hornets, F-111s and Hawks in Western Australia.

Air Force crews have worked to support the Navy for the final phase of their Principal Warfare Officers Course and for the Operational Readiness Evaluation of the newest Anzac Class frigate, HMAS Stuart.

Hawks from No. 79 Squadron based at RAAF Pearce and personnel and aircraft from No. 1 and No. 77 Squadrons, as well as an AP-3C Orion from No. 292 Squadron, have participated in the exercise that began on November 8 and ends on November 21.

Australian Air Force and Navy crews also have been testing intraoperability with their New Zealand counterparts with the inclusion of a Royal New Zealand Air Force P3-K Orion and HMNZS Te Kaha.

The aircraft have launched from RAAF Base Pearce and operated 250km off the coast, between Lancelin and Albany. The crews have worked together to provide air defence and air threats to the Combined Naval Task Group.
