The catafalque party stands guard at the Kingaroy district memorial.
THE Kingaroy district has held a service of dedication for a newly completed memorial to service personnel killed while training within its district during World War 2.

The Joint Telecommunications School provided a catafalque party and paraded as a unit to support the event.

Kingaroy and the surrounding townships within the district housed a number of Army and Air Force units during WW2.

The memorial was dedicated on October 26 to commemorate the sacrifice of those killed during training and to enshrine a place of remembrance.

JTS provided a Joint Service Contingent with a small contingent of 15 personnel attending from RAAF Base Amberley.

Commanding Officer JTS Squadron Leader Chris O’Brien participated as the Parade Marshal while Flight Lieutenant Cal Harrison took command of the JTS contingent.

The dedication was combined with an airshow and wine/food festival.

A crowd of several thousand attended the festival with about 500 attending the dedication of the memorial.
